Lyrics: Driving the highway with nothing to do Future fading away The stereo is pumping Metallica tunes Ride the lightning, oh yeah The car might be stolen,my clothes smell like dirt Born to ramble and play Play with fire, drunk and denial Always in for a fight I’ve been in the dark side (of) town They are bringing me in They called me The Wild Rover of Hell I’m fighting for nickels and a dime, for the rules I always break See the blood I’ve split, I’ll still be the haunted Stitching my wounds like Rambo, for fanden Damage complete and done Some had better and some had worse Walk a mile in quicksand Spending the last bucks on whiskey and beers Oh how clever I am The dice keeps on tumbling, my will still unbroken But how long will it last I’ve been in the dark side (of) town They are bringing me in They called me The Wild Rover of Hell I’m fighting for nickels and a dime, for the rules I always break See the blood I’ve split, I’ll still be the haunted I’m fighting them all big or small, my friend Just show me the dollars I end up losing it all again Repeating the story Driving the highway with nothing to do Future fading away The stereo is pumping Metallica tunes Ride the lightning, oh yeah The car might be stolen,my clothes smell like dirt Born to ramble and play Play with fire, drunk and denial Always in for a fight I’ve been in the dark side (of) town They are bringing me in They called me The Wild Rover of Hell I’m fighting for nickels and a dime, for the rules I …

the lyrics are an epic WIN!!!! XD
@gooby21 and they did so by stealing pretty much anything from anyone… so yea who cares about that poser metal.
@timongarretson your right, listen to Volbeat Soulweeper 1 and Misfits – saterday night. But both are great songs. Great voice to!!
Haha! Metallica fans! These guys are ok by me. Their music is great.
Does anyone else hear Misfits-like stuff in some of their other songs… or is it just me?
@Chickenboobful i saw them as well in october i loved them high engery great music and pree deecent show
As much as i agree with you I also have to say. Although their riffs and double bass is very metal, they crossed a musical barrier (Elvis/Cash Metal) to a whole new caliber that Metallica only ever reached with their acoustic radio performances. Like Four Horseman, Low mans lyric, creeping death etc etc.
@samobetty Oh please, I can recite the lyrics to those albums straight from my head. Don’t try and give me a metal lesson. But metallica is just boring to me now. Yeah they’re way more than powerchords and double bass but if you really study the structure you’ll that it’s all the same..
@Playingpants This guy has a much better voice than James Hetfield but Metallica is MUCH more than powerchords and double bass. Go listen to And Justice for All in its entirety and get back to me. Nothing Volbeat has done can touch Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, or And Justice for All. Sorry…Also, Jame’s voice was PERFECT for Metallica.
@shieldsm Metallica is my fav band and has always been but volbeat kicks ass as well.
hahahahaa. That would be way too cool dude.
Yeah, I know. The first time I heard Volbeat, I remember thinking “Elvis?! HE DIDN’T DIE! HE WENT METAL!”
yet its not so wrong if you think about it
Saw these guys Open for Lamb of God and Metallica in November 2009 in Ottawa. They were Loud and they Rocked, Thanks for a great first impression.
@gooby21
You can’t say better than that! Finally somone who understand the metal. Anyway, the ppls who say they hate MetallicA they are just ignorant. And why when MetallicA announce a show somewhere and the ticket are out for sale, they are able to sale everything in about 5 min? strange when you think ’bout every hater they have on the internet! Volbeat is great, MetallicA was, is and will always be great!
Yeah, the singer has a very unique voice.
I jokingly say that Volbeat is what you’d get if Elvis ever went metal.
Who was the fuckin retard saying, Volbeat sounds nothing like Metallica? Volbeat are highly influenced by Metallica, you can hear it in there riffs and in the chorus, but Volbeat has evolved “metallica-metal” to a whole new metal-sound. That´s why they are so fucking good, they sound a lot like metallica, but still they got their own sound, and there´s no other band soundin like them. They are the only Metal band who has created a new sound in almost 20years with quality.
Metallica has vocal melodies can’t touch volbeat’s.
Anyone can put power chords & double bass together. That’s why Volbeat is better.
I don´t see the lyrics … ….
Dont get me wrong I really like Volbeat, but MetallicA is better in everyway way, shape and form. Sorry
u guys cant hate on Metallica they are legendary and they probably influenced Volbeat to come into existence, Metallica has lead metal to what it is today by influencing sooo many bands
I’m not ;P
I’m with you on both accounts
You’ve got to be kidding me?
I think why they are so good is because they’re different. They sound nothing like metallica. Their vocal melodies are incredible and catchy!
Volbeat rox…. metallica?….. well think of it.
